Soft Cheesy Sticks

Soft, golden, and delicious cheesy sticks, great for a party as an appetizer and snacks on game night.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams all-purpose flour 2 1/4 cups; 10.5 oz
  • 250 grams cottage cheese (1 1/8 cup; 8.8 oz)
  • 250 grams butter (1 cup + 2 tablespoons; 8.8 oz) room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • cumin sesame or poppy seeds to sprinkle
  • 1 egg yolk for egg wash lightly beaten

Instructions

  • Mix flour with baking powder and salt.
  • In a separate bowl mix butter, egg, and cottage cheese. Add flour mixture, and knead with your hands until dough is smooth (add more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time if the dough is too sticky).
  • Wrap in a foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into 1 cm (1/2 inch) thick rectangle.
  • Cut the dough into sticks, arrange them onto a prepared baking sheet. Brush them with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame, cumin, or poppy seeds.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
