FOR MARINADE:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon worcester sauce
- 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon corn starch
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
FOR PEPPER STEAK:
- 500 grams 1 poundsteak (sirloin, flank),cut diagonally across the grain into thin strips
- 2 bell peppers thinly sliced (I used 1 red, 1/2 yellow and 1/2 green)
- 1 scallion cut lenghtwise, into 1 inch pieces, white and green pieces separated
- 1 small onion quartered
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 3 tablepoons canola/vegetable oil divided
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- dash of freshly grated pepper
PEPPER STEAK:
Heat 2 tablepoon oil in a large pan over medium high heat. With a slotted spoon remove the steak from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and fry until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the pan, add garlic, ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add onion, peppers and white parts of scallion, saute for 4-5 minutes. Add browned meat, green parts of scallion, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, salt and pepper and reserved marinade to the skillet, stir well and cook for 1 minute.
Serve over rice, quinoa or chinese noodles.
