Topping:
- 60 grams all-purpose flour (1/2 cup)r
- 75 grams old fashioned oats (3/4 cup)
- 115 grams cold butter (1 stick, 1/2 cup) diced into small cubes
- 100 grams light brown sugar (1/2 cup)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Apples:
- 5 apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (I use a variety of apples - Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Gala...)
- 2 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 50 grams brown sugar (1/4 cup)
Preheat oven to 190 C ( 375 F).
In a large bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and sugar. Add diced butter and use your hands to toss and squeeze mixture until large, moist clumps form. Transfer to freezer to chill while you prepare apples.
In a large bowl toss apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, melted butter, salt, and flour. Transfer to a 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) or any other similar size baking dish, and sprinkle with topping mixture.
Bake until the top is golden and apples are tender when tested with a toothpick, about 30-35 minutes.
Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.
